I have an aftermarket quadrant and FW adjuster. This is the second time i'm replacing the clutch cable this year! I looked under the dash and noticed that the quadrant slides from side to side and that the cable is fraying right at the quadrant area. Does anyone know where the ideal positioning of the quadrant to be? I moved it so that it sits next to the cotter pin. Should I use shims to keep it in place?

Go buy a few 1/2" washers in different thicknesses. Maybe pick up some rubber washers (squishy) from plumbing.
Take off your quadrant. If the inner edge is sharp, take it to a buffing wheel and soften that sharp edge, both sides of the channel.
When you put it back on, mix and match the washers so the cable comes straight into the channel from the firewall. IIRC, that line is on top, so I used my hand to make sure it was lined up. Shim both sides to keep it from floating.

That should do it.
