I'm wondering if anyone else is having problems with their brakes squeaking. I was told by a buddy that is 01 Saleen Cobra had the same problem and the pads had to be machined a little...

Isn't that the same stuff you can buy at a parts store? I've used the sticky type that you spray on the back and it didn't quiet them down.

It depends on the cause. The sound is caused by a vibration occurring rapidly.

1) Ensure caliper retainers are tight
2) The pads should have shims or some sort of aftermarket material to prevent the pad moving around and causing noise
3) Did you break in the brakes? Squeal can also be caused by outgassed condensate on either the pads, the rotors, or both. "Green" pads overheated too fast can cause this - the solution is to re-abrade the rotors and change to a new set of pads.
4) Ensure hubs/bearings are trued up
5) Ensure wheel lugs are properly torqued to spec and check rotor run-out - they made need on car machining

I followed the usual regime of driving moderately in suburban traffic for about an hour - 45 mph, semi hard on brakes, cool down, repeat 10-20 times. Never had a peep from the brakes.
