Any suggestions on a good intake kit???

I presentli own a Volant cold air intake for my 02 lightning and i wound up removing the box . I felt it was restricting air flow that i could be getting in from my ram air hood. I spoke to Jim SR. from JDM during a dyno run and he told me it was actually robbing me of some H.P.
Does anyone have any dyno proven intake kits they can suggest?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This is more of preference than anything else. Jdm has a good kit, so does PSP, JLP. I have the Air Force One with polished power tube and am very pleased with it. Just my .02.

Any CAI with a heat shield is an improvement. Your Volant was prolly doin better with the cover on than it will with the hood, unless there is an airtight seal btwn the hood and top of the box. PimpRohr did some datta loggin on his with and without a heat shield. Here's the linky:

The volant is actually a very good intake. Its pulls strictly from the fenderwell. Unless you have a serious pulley I would have kept the volant.

yeah JDM's sucks (if it is still just a cone filter) it just gets to heat soked
i put my hand on mine (filter) and it was hot as all hell, wire mesh was steamin! go with a closed box

i have had the volant on my truck almost as soon as i baught it and i love it.no complaints
