So what does the back look like? That is the main question. He wanted the back to look like the front, but only provided a pic of the front. Or am I missing something?

Concrete looks great!. Go outside with your water hose and squirt off the concrete kick off your flip flops and walk bare footed on your new patio. Take some more deep breaths and be great full on how much money you saved and that you got to wake up this morning.

Concrete can be acid stained. I'd have him look into that first.

This was done by mixing red, yellow and black iron oxide into the wet concrete, diamond wet polished to 200 grit, then stained with English Red. Polyurethane on top.
You might have to stain (with different stuff) the old concrete to match. BTW, don't try to mix that stuff in metal! I used an aluminum pan; it didn't last long...Wear appropriate protection; the stuff makes concrete sizzle.
