I've seen more '99s with 3.73's n/a than 96-98's dunno why, but I see a lot. 373's aint all bad so don't worry bout it too much, still better than stock.

Completely different engine bud, hence he said 96-98.

Yes, its true that the engines are different. However, they both originally come with 3.27's. (96 to 98 and 95R). I still think the 3.73's are a good choice.

Personally, I miss the 32v Mod engined Cobra I used to own. Damn fine engine.

I had a 3.73 last year. It was just not enough.
Switch to 4.10 this year.
I am much more happy with the 4.10 than the 3.73

I have 3.73's in my 96. I hear everyone say ditch them for 4.10's or 4.30's.

I'm not going to though. First gear is short enough as it is.

But, on the other hand, if you can drive it, and I mean really drive it, you should go w/ the steeper gears....

If you can't, and you're already not able to get the tires to hook up, w/ 4.30's you'll be burning out all the way through 3rd gear. You'll be going slow, and you'll look like an ass. lol

I've been running 3.73's for about 30,000 miles now, love 'em! I've got a good zip around town and run the interstate at 80+ with now problems. BUT, I've gotten used to them and looking to switch to 4.30's soon. I'm wanting more zip around town and besides, I need to slow my ass down on the interstates. Those runs up and down I-71 at 110mph and better are gonna catch up with me!:burn:

We all know 96-98 DOHC cobra motors love high gearing. I switched from 3.27s to 3.73s and now I'm switching to 4.30s because 3.73s aren't enough IMO.

There are too many new cars out there with similar performance, like the somwhat new subaru WRXs, Mach1, BMW 330s. I want to still have the performance edge over them and 4.30s are a great way to start ;) Since I don't ever plan to install a supercharger or nitrous, 4.30s are the way to go.

BTW, I've heard the engine revs at 3000rpms in 5th at 80mph with 4.30s.

I just got 3:73 installed last month and I love them. I test drove my friends 99 with 4:10, it was great but just too much for my taste. First gear is very short and the rpm range on the hwy was too high for me. What ever ratio you decide, get the FMS gears. You will have to shop around but I found them for 187 bucks and when installed no gear noises what so ever. my 2 cent worth

That ratio is with the 4.10's.. At 80mph with my 4.10's.. im sitting at 3000rpms. 4.30's will prolly be around the 3200rpm range.
