Am I being paranoid? Or am I on to something?

Anyone else notice that every fluid capacity required for our cars is just a little more than what is in the container?

I just bought oil, rear end oil and friction modifier.

Oil needs 8.5 qts - whether you buy two gallons or 8 qts, you still have to buy that extra quart for the 1/2.

Rear end oil needs 5 pints - only sold in quarts (2 pints each), you have to buy an extra quart to get the extra pint.

Friction modifier requires 5 oz. - only sold in 4 oz bottles, you have to buy an extra bottle to get the extra oz.

Extras =

$13.00 qt oil
$23.04 rear end oil
$9.80 friction modifier

Total of $45.84

Other fluids I did not buy, but...

Transmission fluid - comes in qts, needs 2 1/4 quarts, so you have to buy 3...

Engine Coolant - comes in gallons, needs 15.2 qts, so you have to buy an extra gallon...

Extras =

$19.08 transmission fluid
$35.12 antifreeze

Add these extras to above total, if you just change these fluids, it’s a total of...

$100.04...

in extra fluid containers you have to purchase to get the fraction more that you need.

You throw in Ford Hotdogs and Buns, 10 wieners and 8 buns - extra pack of Motorcraft Buns, $3.02.

So for complete fluid change and lunch, extra fractional purchases come to:

$103.06

I might sound paranoid - but just multiply that times 10 million Fords (conservative estimate), and Ford bleeds us for an extra:

$103.06 x 10,000,000 = like 700 trillion dollars.

...just saying.
