Alternator ?

Well i have just a bought my third csvt and now i remeber why i hate them so much.... what a pain to work on..
I bought it with a bad harness for positive cable installed new cable
battery light still on .So bought a Brand new not reman alternator.
The old one tested good somehow even though it wasnt charging the battery.
Im getting 12 volts on alternator cable replaced mega fuse for the heck of it.
Starts and runs and will hold 12 volts no battery light
But should be higher shouldnt it? like 14
I didnt replaced negative cable will a bad negative cable cause it not to charge properly?Thanks for the help....

changed negative cable now showing 11.74 running/idling
when revved up dropped to 11.70 but will come back up to 11.74 when idling again

another brand new alt still 11.74 running

i guess noone has ever had any alternator problems in csvt

There have been many however, not alot of Contour traffic here. Usually brapple pops in every few days. You might also try fordcontour.org that was the alt/competitor to contour.org

Ford Has Issued a TSB (#98-9-10) About This Unit Possibly Not Charging in the Vehicle Due to a Bad Connection at the B+ Terminal. The Suggested Repair is to Replace the B+ Cable (#F5RZ-14300-EA) and Tighten Properly, or, if the Terminal on the Alternator is Damaged, Replace the Complete Unit, as Well as the Cable. This Only Applies to the 1995-98 Contour / Mystique. :beer:

thanks ill keep working on it
i think im gonna buy a trickle charger for it and just drive it with no lights
or hook a jump box to it haha
