I just bought my new alternator from autozone and the pulley is a different size from whats on the car now. will the size difference matter since the tensioner is self adjusting?

Well since you have U/D pullies on your car, I assume the pulley from the autozone ALT is smaller in diameter?
I'd run the STOCK pulley (which is on the new autozone ALT)

Your sig says you have UD pulleys, so your pulley is definitely different size than the Auto Zone one.
I have pulleys too, and i'm going back to the stock alt pulley too.
