alcantara shift boot question

if you have the alcantara shift boot how would buying a new shift knob look like because i havent found a retainer for it will the knob just go down all the way and touch the boot at lool like a turle neck lol becasue i have the 302 knob which has that metal poll under the ball

I'm using the alcantara shift boot in my Boss with an MGW shifter. I trimmed the tab off the bottom of the shift boot and used a 1/2" nylon spacer under the boot.

Without the spacer the boot wasn't snug against the base of the ball.

have a photo i dont quiet understand what you meant by trimming the tab i have a barton shifter now as well
