I have been thinking about an aftermarket head unit, and was wondering how hard is it to install WITHOUT using the factory amps?

In my previous cars (taurus SHO's), there is a second connector in the dash that bypasses the factory amps and goes straight to the speakers. Using this connector as well as unplugging the factory amps results in being able to run an aftermarket head unit using the aftermarket amp.

Does the cobra with the mach 160 sound have this bypass feature? What have people done? Do I have to run all new wires?

I am pretty good with installing aftermarket stereo equipment...just trying to get some insight as to what the Mach 460 sound system entails.

If you get a Alpine Headunit they sell an adapter to connect the amps with gain control for each channel...best option I've seen...
