Advice on removing C-clips from axle shafts

I'm trying to remove the C-clips off of the axle shafts. Everyone says that they should fall off after I take the 3 inch steel pin between the middle of the axle shafts out. However, they are not falling off whatsoever...any help? Thanks

They will not just fall out. Once you remove the pin you need to slide the axle inward and then pull the clip off with a set of needlenose pliers. Sometimes once you push the axle in then will fall off, bit not always. You need to remove the brake calipers from the brackets if you have not done so already.
