My gf and I adopted a pit from a local shelter 2 years ago, it was a ****ing circus because the shelter sent her off to a foster after we signed and paided for her. She ended up biting the Foster's chihuahua from being stressed and was going to have her put down. My gf's college professor has from high up friends with a animal rights (not really I just can't think of the programs name, maybe the aspca) and they helped us get our dog from these assholes. Adopting a shelter or rescue dog isn't for everyone, but it is worth it for us. That's kimber, when we got her she was 55lbs and was malnourished. She was on medication for a skin infection and had most of her hair falling out. She ripped her nails out from stress. Today she's 87lbs of lazy but loyal friendship. She still hasn't figured out how to swim yet lol. The cat, we took in after our neighbors abandoned him as a kitten. They do everything together.
