Ok so heres the deal I got a speeding ticket going 24 over. The officer was nice enough to knock it down to just being 20 over so I wouldnt get wreckless driving and potentially lose my license.

Anyways the cop was pretty pissed (cant say I blame him) and said that if I took it to court and fought it he would go after the full ticket of 24 over and wreckless driving. Can he do this since the ticket is already filled out of 20 over?? Dont get me wrong I have no intentions of fighting it, I am grateful to him for not giving me the whole thing but I was just curious if he was BSing me or not?

yes the ticket can be amended. and since he cut you a break you should just suck it up because once in court he can make you eat the full monty.

You are a funny old prosecutor, aren't you.

Emphasis on OLD- turned almost 60 yesterday. In fact, I'm so old, I cough dust. Went to a friends funeral last month and the director looked at me and said "not much point in you going home" :dw:

Here's what happened to me several years ago. I stopped a whiney Minnesota truck driver and lowered the speed allittle, this was something I rarely did. I do not do it anymore!
This truck driver took me to court after I gave him a break. Now, I didn't change the citation, but did testify as to why I stopped him at the original speed. The jurists maxed his fine and laughed him out of the court room.
A citation can always be amended. What matters is the wording of the complaint.
