Always wanted an old marantz stereo. Best stereos ever
yes, it is almost 40 years old and sounds amazing, but none of my kids will appreciate that, they listen to music on their phones.

That's a deep thought man.....must be a really good scotch!
most excellent

May I ask what scotch you are drinking?
Aberfeldy, Single Highland Malt, aged 21 years

One man's junk is another man's treasure.
Yep both are true, One man's treasure is another man's junk.

Brian is going to wake up this morning, look at his post, and say......."Did I really say that?" :lol1:
Nope, I meant it. My stereo and music collection (900+ CDs and 200+ vinyl albums) are just going to be garage sale and donation fodder after I am gone :(

I think there might have been some puff puff give along with the scotch.
I am sorry Senator, I can neither confirm or deny that...

Not so sure this means what he thought it would mean...

What Marantz? (derail) Always wanted the 2238b back then.
It is a 2265b, purchased new in 1977, hooked to a pair of Pioneer HPM-100 speakers and a Pioneer direct drive turntable.
I periodically rattle things off the shelf in my office

I think he is putting the scotch down.
A good time was had

I would love an old Marantz to power my vintage Klipsch LaScalas.
My early 90s Sherwood/NewCastle does a decent job until then.

I had a Technics integrated and tuner at that time. The 2238b was too much, but looked great.

What table? I have a PL-530 from that time.

Looking up Marantz stuff: http://www.classicaudio.com/value/mz/

I have the PL-S50

I started out with a 2220 and traded it to a guy for a 2280 that did not work, I fixed that one and some low-life broke into my house and stole it and a ton of other stuff... I bought the 2265b to replace it.

Loved the higher level Marantz receivers, never wound up with one.
Ironically, the only receiver I own is a Mcintosh MAC 1700. Got that one out of the KOC bar locally where it'd been providing background music.

Traded them some Kenwood stuff for it.
