A little help

Well the engine was ticking pretty bad, and yesterday it said it was done. I was driving up the highway and it started rattling knocking etc. Now it sounds like there is a rod just sitting in the cyclinder, which I could no see as being a good thing. Well I'm in college at the age of nineteen and money is definately an issue. I'm opening the floor to solutions. I wouldn't mind building it while its out.

was it the passenger side that went? how many miles on the car? what year is it? and yeah, while its out, may as well go with forged internals. I only ask cuz my pass side is ticking from somewhere and it seems to get loufer and louder everyday, and my car just turned 36k miles

its a 98, and the mileage.....well......144k. Pretty bad I know but the ticking did get worse on mine quickly. Do you have stock headers?
