A/C on my 98 Civic Beater

I've got a peculiar problem with the A/C on my Civic where it will cool great for a little while then start blowing warm. It does this at any speed but will often do this if the A/C is cut off or I have to press the gas hard enough to shut it off acceleration but then it won't come back on for a long time. It seems to be freezing up or a vacuum problem.

Does anyone know what causes this problem? Maybe someone that has a Civic or had a car that did similar things.

Low freon level may be causig the condensor to freeze up. That would be the first thing I check.

These dam civics have what they call an ac thermostat in the evaporator core housing, if everything else checks out, check that!

i doubt its freezing with low refrigerant
but it may be low on refrigerant hook up some gauges and see

freon hasnt been used since the early 90s. cars use DuPont SUVA R134a.
