First and foremost, there is perhaps no more beautiful sound than that of a Cobra blower spooling up. Awesome!

I came across a beautiful Silver CPIE 03 Cobra this evening in Woodland Hills. I was driving a modded 996TT. He revved on me and the challenge was accepted. We went twice from a roll. I pulled him by many cars each time.

As always, the Cobra owner was a very cool guy. 03 Cobra owners, as a group, are remarkably cool – they are not afraid to push their cars. Its all about the attitude, and Cobra owners seem to have it in spades.

The owner of the Cobra I raced is a member here. I think his moniker is 2003 CobraSVT – he yelled it out the window, but it was difficult to hear. His Cobra has a Predator chip, catless exhaust, intake and upgraded pully (he mentioned the number, but I can’t remember). Beautiful car with an awesome sound . . . I can still hear the melodic whine of the spooling blower.

Thanks for the run!!!!

For the insano money you spent, I'm glad you beat him.

I know I have a great time making 100k car owners sad that a 35ish car put lengths on them, both on and off the track.

Glad to see that both parties were cool about it...

Im the one he raced on vent. blvd in woodland hills. Im also the one who got my ass handed to me by some car lengths, but by a very respectable car! Again watch out for the infamous porsche, It is one bad ass ride. My Cobra has a mac prochamber (catless), a flowmaster catback, K&N air intake, And a 3.1 pulley, with the predator tune. Had a couple of questions for you though. Was wondering what you done to that car performance wise and was wondering what the difference is between a 911 turbo and a 966 turbo. Also why do you post on this bored? Do you have a Cobra? And have you ever lost a race, other then maybe to a bike? Thanks for the races it is nice to lose once in a while, puts you in your place. LOL.

See above -- the list posted by Dgussin is accurate. Thanks Dgussin.

911 is the general designation for a line of cars produced by Porsche since approximately 1963 that share a similar body shape, along with a flat 6 engine. Each particular 911 model bears a specific model number. For example, the newest 911 model is the 997, which was released just a week or two ago. From 1999 through 2004, the 911 models used the 996 designation. Prior to that, there was the 993. Within each particular 911 body style, there are several sub-categories. For example, the 911 996 body style included the C2, C4, C4S, Targa, TT, TTx50, TTS, GT1 (race care), GT2 and GT3.

The 911 designation is analogous to Ford's use of the Mustang designation, or GM's Camero and Corvette. The current models are part of a long line of cars that use the same general description (e.g., Mustang, Camero or Corvette), but each new version has a sub-classification (e.g., Corvette C5 and C6).

I am a big fan of the SVT Cobra and I have many friends who own one! Moreover, I find that Cobra owners, on average, have great attitudes about their cars and are more willing than many other performance car owners to drive their cars hard, and I appreciate that attitude. My car is anything but a garage queen and I value others who drive their performance cars more than they wax them. We are all fellow enthusiasts who share a common passion, and the model of our particular cars is secondary to our shared appreciation of cars in general.

I have never lost to a street car. I did, however, lose once to a dedicated ¼ mile track car – a trailered, fully built 383 stroker Camero on a two stage 300 shot with a racing transmission, 28 in slicks and skinnies, etc etc etc. It was a monster ¼ car.

That being said, I know full well that there are plenty of street cars out there that can take me, and I am far from the fastest.

A friend of mine who also drives a 996TT was driving into a casino parking lot a few months ago and the casino had security guards checking trunks -- everyone was required to open their trunk. The security guard walked to the rear of his car and asked him to open his trunk. While still seated in the car, he opened the engine compartment hood where the guard was standing. The guard sheepishly closed the trunk and waived him in without even going to the front and checking the "luggage" compartment.
