99 s/c cobra need new alternator

I have a Supercharged 99 cobra that I need a new alternator for. I have been looking anywhere but ford and have not had good luck. I am looking to upgrade to a higher amperage mode if neccesary. Where is the best place to get one and has anybody had luck with them? Is the 03/04 cobra one interchangable with 99/01 models? Mine has a baaaaad bearing and that sounds ugly!!! Thanks for the help

Its not Geico but you could save alot of money rebuilding the stock alternator yourself. Theres really nothing to it.

Have you found any kits that upgrade the alternator to a higher output? Or would that require a new stator as well?

Never have looked, Id be more interested in an 80 amp alternator.

How many AMPs do you guys need?

This is a feed back system so going overboard does you no good anyway.

I'm honestly not sure if I need a bigger alternator or if I just need to install a cap. One night I was cruising with my buddy and I noticed my lights dimming each time the bass hit. I can't remember how big the amp is, but I know it's not huge. I've had the charging system checked on the car and it passed. But they've also been known to pass bad batteries.

I just noticed it that night. I don't drive at night very much. And I had the system cranked since I was alone.
