Hey I was wondering is it possible to do a cam swap with the motor still in the car.. talk to fast lane Motorsports and they said the motor has to come out..
I don't believe it absolutely HAS to come out but the time you're going to spend trying to do it in the car, you could have dropped the motor out the bottom and put it back in.
I have done it with the motor in the car. It can be done. You need the ford valve spring compressor tool.
1. Take off the front timing cover
2. take off the intake
3. valve covers (obviously)
4. unbolt the motor mounts to allow you to rotate the motor to help whatever side you are doing
5. a magnetic pointer for the keepers
6. LOTS of patience
7. LOTS of cussing
I thought doing headers on a 4.6 with the stock K was hard. There was a point that I would have rather been kicked in the balls than started the cam swap.
However, when I fired it up for the first time, it was so friggin cool!
