97' Sho

Thinking about getting a 97 SHO for a new daily driver. My old F-150 has about had it. Anybody have any information on the SHO, problems, negitives, positives about the car? Any info i great. Thanks

I haven't personally owned own, but I can give some insight.

From what I've heard as for DD and highway cruisers great cars.

The only issue I can think of is a cam issue. The cam sprockets are pressed on and can come off ending in engine failure. You can get teh cams welded for ~$500 for a piece of mind.

Did they have the V-8's in them that year or was it still the 24V V-6? I hear they require a lot of maintenance. We use to always get the ones with the V-8's in service at the dealer that I work at.

The 96-99 SHOs were 3.4 V8s :)

3.4L V8, which is basically a 2.5L Duratec with two more cylinders. The V8 is a Ford / Yamaha engine as the V6 is strictly Yamahammer.

They don't require a lot of maintenance, the the V6s do though.
