Buddy of mine has a 97 cobra Hard Top, 3.73 gears, 255 lph pump, drag radials, 75 shot NOS, No Cats, K&N, hitting the NOS off the line his best time is 12.50. Average time is more like 12.80. He is installing a 12 PSI Vortech Supercharger and expects to go 10.90's. BTW This engine has 100% stock internals, heads, intake and a rebuilt 5 speed. The only thing done to the rear is the Carrier was Cryo treated. Thoughts on this???

It has been done, but, not on 12 pounds boost. Anything more than 425+ rwhp and the engine will turn loose those rings in a hurry. Once he gets that blower set...he's about 8 grand away from reliable 10.90's(bottom end, TKO 500/600 tranny, 31 spline rear end, one bad ass clutch and suspension). Watch out, if you spin up the boost and throw a rod, you've added about 1500 dollars to the rebuild price and may not even be able to find an affordable Teksid block replacement.

If he really wants to go fast with that blower, he would put in an automatic trans instead of a TKO.

not at 12psi at his power level. the manual will be faster, and cheaper.

^^See that READ THAT, Tell your freind not to do it. They dont make these blocks anymore and they can be hard to come by. Why destroy a perfectly good block? It's not a opinion if the motor will fail it's a fact, IT WILL FAIL.

Hydraulics and electronic solenoids are faster than non sequential manuals. Every time. Period.
