I bought this car 6 months ago for a good deal. But had a blown up motor. This is my first mustang, and first intorduction to the mod motor. Fired it up last night and she's running strong on a break in tune with about 2-3 psi of boost!

Thanks guys!! Ill get around to cleaning the bay up once I get it tuned. I'm happy with the way it looks from what I started with. Far as specs go. Stock 99 cobra heads an cams with 95lb springs. Flat top pistons so 10.5:1. Total seal rings gapped at 20 on top and 16 on bottom. I'm looking for 10-15 pounds on final tune. Mostly a street car so even at that level im pushing it. I have a video of first start up. Ill take another one soon for you guys.

I've never done any bottom end work on a motor and especially not a mod motor. Are they really that hard and complicated like everyone says? Is it something somebody with mechanical skills can do?

Bottom end is easy!! It's timing a dohc that takes some patience. I did my whole build with a Haynes manual from autozone. And a few google searches. Trust bearing is the most important thing in the bottom end. And the Haynes manual is very grey in that topic. But I got it all figured out. Just plasti gauge to make sure rods and mains are good. I actually built this car for my wife. She's been heart broken since we sold her 99 gt a year ago. I told her I'd build her something faster and she's always like the 96 cobra. I'm a lucky man... I know. LOL. Just a fun daily driver with a track day here and there.

Nice work. Sounds like your woman needs to come over and talk some sense into mine.

I'm calling these wheels my roll arounds for now. Ill get to them soon. It didn't make the car run so they got pushed back.

Gotcha - if your taste is anything like the engine bay, I'm sure the exterior will come out fine. Clean work, subtle color changes, nice job.

Thanks dude! She will look better on the outside soon. It's a 67mm ITS. T4 flange and .81 a/r. She's old school but they made good damn turbos. Thing sounds right screaming out the 3" down pipe on 10lbs right now. Getting some spark plug blow out around 6500. Plugs gapped at 28. Think it's the msd coils. Gonna try to find some motor crafts to swap and see if that solves it.

I just went COP and called it a day - I understand your resistance with the work you have in the valve covers, but it solved all of my issues and dropped a ton of stuff off the front.

Thanks guys! I spent a lot of time researching... That's for sure. I redid all the boost pipe work because the maf was to close to TB. And being one whole piece welded to TB it sucked to change/inspect spark plugs. B valve covers on a cobra/mach1 intake is a tight fit. So had to buy a spacer to get my clearance for the coupler.
