i went away for a week and came back to a dead battery, tried to jump it and it quickly heated up the jumper cables and they started smoking. I pulled them off and tried another set...same thing. Took my battery(only 1month old) into autozone and got another one. Well i tried connecting it and right when i connect it, it starts sparking bad and starts smoking at the post on the alternator, and a little at the fuse box and the wires to the battery and pretty hot.

the car hadnt been started in a week so im not sure why all of a sudden it started doing this when i had no problem to start with when i parked it. I do have a sound system but i did disconnect inline fuse on the wires going to the battery to see if it was it or not.

Disconnect battery wire on alternator and see if this stops short at battery. If it does ,its in alternator and/or its wiring.
