Hello all just picked up a 96 cobra after selling my 07 gt last year .I missed having a stang and have always liked these body styles so found a clean drop top a few weeks ago . as you can see I'm already diving into the project and figured I'd freshen her up with a new color to get me motivated .Ordered an eaton swap last week and have plans on ordering a 4.75 stoker in the next few weeks. hope u all enjoy the build and follow along

Can you elaborate on the process of how you painted your car? I've been thinking about attempting this myself

We there's so many different ways people go about it some ways work better for others.... besides the quarter panel and alot of rock chips the body was in great shape. So after doing the body work I basicly like to wet sand the whole car in 400 to make sure it's level and no dirt or chip marks. Then I hot the areas I've worked with a urathane surfacer primer so I have atleast 3-5 mils of build to level out and get smooth

Somtines those areas need more sanding to get straint...I think I shot my quarter panel atleast 3 times to get its strait... then when all is said and done I hit it with an epoxy sealer then let flash 30 mins and check for any defects then move onto the base and then clear...it would take me forever to detail every step but if u have any pacific questions feel free to ask

And just to elaborate the 400 grit is only used on panels that don't need leveling....there's many other grits used for leveling fillers and surfacers
