Hey guys, I just got my oem wheels and was shopping for tires. I know what size tires come stock, but I was wondering how they looked and if I should get a different size that looks better, or performs better. I would like to go with Drag radials in the rear and a normal radial in the front.

Thanks:pepper:

+1. That is the combo I have run on my car for the last 3-4 years.

If you are a serious corner carver person, then you would NOT want to do the 275's out back. Not that they cause the car to handle horribly but you can tell a difference.

When I need new tires for mine, thats what I will get for it.

Please expound on the handling disadvantage caused by 275 rear tires.

Technically the 275 is to wide of a tire for our 7.5" wheels. If you run a 245 and a 275 back to back on the rear of our cars you will notice that the rear feels a little more loose in the curves.

But its not that bad. Only time anyone would possibly care is if they were autocrossing the car. I still put my cobra through the twisties with the 275 tire out back. If you are familiar with the dragon in Tennessee ( www.tailofthedragon.com ) I drive my car on it quickly :-D and its not scary with the 275 tire but not as good as it would be with the 245 tire on it.

Plus, you have to think about the "buldge". Most people do not like the sidewalls hanging over the wheel, but some do. I had 275 Goodyears on a 17x8" wheel with massive overhang. I mounted them myself, and they were a bioootch to mount. (I don't have the $7500 tire machine, that makes it easy, I just have the $3500 tire machine.) On the other hand, a 275 BFG tire on a 17"x8" wheel did not have as much "buldge" as the Goodyear.

You may get some rubbing with the 275 out back. The Nitto DR from what I've heard runs a bit narrower in the 275 width compared to the BFG.

Ive had really good luck with my 255/45-17 BFG G-Force TA KDWS. BFG literature listed them for a 7.5" wheel at the time. Dont know how you could get much more tire than that on the stock wheel.

I would do a 255-40 all the way around. I think the 245-45 is way to tall and narrow. My .02:beer:
