87-96 f150 engine differences

i was just wondering might sound stupid or not i noticed from 87-92 the f150s and the 1993 lightning do not have a maf and the later ones do i was just wondering which one would be better i suppose and would carry more ecu tuning capability. thanks for any imput id like to hear pros and cons about it if there are any. reason is im looking to get a f150 and clone it into a lightning. you might wonder why not just get a lightning. well i figured my insurance on it would be a good amount more and to find a nice one is alittle more out of my price range right now.
