Hi

I'm selling my 2003 Cobra
$35,000
45k mi
Black
Clean title
CA car - no rust/no corrosion
No stories / nothing hidden
I've owned it since 11/2018
I'm selling because the drag strip here is closing, and I have bought something more street-oriented
I'm listing it on national forums as it will not pass CA emissions
I'm in Sacramento CA

Start-up video from today 8/15/23

The car has a charging issue
It has a Nation's alternator/external voltage regulator, which I shipped to them 12/22
It came back with a clean bill of health
The car starts first crank, every time, with voltage 14.6-14.8
After about 15mins of starting, the voltage drops to ~11.9
I have a stock alternator in a box that I'm going to swap out if I get the time, trying to diagnose the issue
I have so little free time to work on the car - I'd like to sell it diagnosed/fixed, but I'm willing to take a few thousand off of asking price if I don't have the time to get it done

I purchased the car through AED, who did most of the work
It's a stock longblock with ARP head studs
Gen2 2.9 crusher - oil changed <50mi ago
Right at 800rwhp on E85
Tuned at AED

Engine:
As above, stock longblock
ARP head studs
Recent compression and leakdown tests show normal numbers without significant variance across cylinders/banks
IW damper w/ ARP bolt

Blower belt & accessory belt <50mi
Division X idler pullies
I went through and replaced any stock accessory idler bearings with NSK japanese bearings
ThumpRRR tensioner
Cobra Engineering oil cooler delete
Cobra Engineering IAC spacer

Exhaust:
Kooks LT headers
Kooks cat-less x-pipe
3" Borla mufflers/tailpipes
Bassani baffles in the tailpipes for keeping neighbors happy....

Cooling/IC:

J2 intercooler and flow mod manifold
Trunk reservoir
EMP WP29 trunk pump
1" lines throughout / -16AN fittings
Thermostat relocated/oil cooler delete - IPSCO housing with crossover delete

All cooling/IC mods <50mi

6pt Wolfe chromoly roll bar
Corbeau FX1 fixed-back seats with no damage
Factory radio, heat and AC work flawlessly
Trunk-mounted battery
- will come with yellow Optima and PC680 Odyssey batteries
Flaming River cutoff switch
Remote charging terminals for trickle charger

Paint:
9/10
12hr full paint correction <3k mi ago

Quickest pass of 10.0
Fastest pass 142mph

Happy to have anyone local look at/vouch for the car in the event the buyer is out of state
I can help arrange for transport though I've never shipped a car before
It's hard to let this go. It's fast, it's fun, it's a great street/strip car with AC/heat. I may regret it, but realistically between wife/three young kids/stressful job I feel it's the right decision to make

Thanks - feel free to shoot me whatever questions you may have
Phil
Coolest most beautiful cobra I've ever seen. I kick myself in the butt sometimes for building my vortech 98 cobra and instead should of just got one of these. Again that's the coolest car I've ever seen.

I'd like to get this sold, flexible on price
Not flexible enough to take the $25k I've been offered, though
I'm considering storing it over the winter and resisting in the spring, but willing to sell now for reasonable offer
Thanks
Phil

It’s rough out here man. I’ve laughed at all my offers lately. I think the best one so far is $28k for my 19k mile coupe. People make me smile. This cars ridiculously nice, and would be a great car.

If you keep it it will keep going up in value. Cars like that are getting more rare and desirable each day. In the future most cars will be dull boring and with big stupid touch screens. This is a true driver's car and I'll bet later on it will be worth even more. Wish I could buy it. I would in a heart beat if I could. Good luck.

I didn’t see it posted on the 03/04 Cobra For Sale group on Facebook, so I would recommend listing it there. I believe there is more traffic there. I’d also probably have Shaun trouble shoot the alternator issue and ideally get it corrected so that potential buyers aren’t faced with an unknown. All that said, I feel the car represents a good value at your asking price, especially if you’re a bit flexible. For what it’s worth, I wish I was in the position to buy it!

Nice looking cobra. your voltage issue has to be the alternator not putting out enough amps at idle. I imagine that fuel pump draws a bunch of amps? Does the voltage shoot back up when driving? Wish you were closer i'd be interested. do you know what the car weighs?

Yes that's what I'm assuming. The nations tested good, but is a 185a model. I've added the intercooler water pump so guess the current alternator just couldn't keep up.
I'm putting a 250a KMJ alternator in it right now which I'm hoping takes care of it.
