8.8 from factory in a 4cyl???

Looking at buying a 1992 4cyl 5sp mustang coupe. I thought I might have read that in the early 90's they started to put the 8.8" rear end in all the mustangs????
Is this true?
Or am I on crack?

I thought the 4 cyl recieved the 7.5

4 and 6 cylinder mustangs recieved the 7.5 rearend. with the exeption of the 4 cylinder svo that was produced from 84-86.

I had an 84 svo it came with a 7.5, but it did have a really nice locker in it.

SVOs came with the 7.5 with Traction Lock
The 87-88 Turbo Coupes came with an 8.8 with Traction Lock
