6.0L GTO vs 03cobra

I raced a GTO last night. We started at a light and took off easy, not sure of each others intentions. About half way through first the GTO gets the jump to about a half car, and I spin a bit. To late to reel him in in first but when I hit second I pulled strong and had a car going into third where we let out. Then we did a couple of 45-50 roll races. The first, the GTO got a slight jump but I had three cars on him by the top of third. The second roll I did not let him get the jump and pulled immediately to a similar result as the first roll.

This was my first race with a 6.0 GTO and I was impressed with how it ran. I am sure this one would have gave my 03 a good run when it was stock. I don't know if it had any mods....

Good kill. I would say he's not stock if you only pulled him by 3 cars at the top of third.

Good kill ! Even though they look like cavaliers on steriods i like the GTO's , 400 h.p. makes them easier to like also.

Did anyone happen to catch his MPH in the quarter with only a 3.2 pulley??? 117.2 seems a little strong??
I only pulley 116 in the quarter with a 2.8 pulley? What gives? :mj:

Gto's only weigh about 50-75 lbs. more than the 03-4 cobras. But compared to your GT and F-bodies yes they are pigs. If you compare GTO's and Cobras to the charger/new challenger/new camaro/GT500, then the are lightweights.

it is unusual but not unbelieveable. I was at the track this weekend and saw a mystic cobra trap 119 with only a 2.8 pulley, full exhaust, cai.

Thanks! Now if I could just repeat it. It was in the 50 degree range that day and only did that mph once, but I was hot lapping it. The rest were in the 116's that day. The last time out it was normal temps (70's) and it was going 115

Last year it did not have the flows and it went 114, with the stock cat back and high 80 temps :shrug:

The 3.2 pulley adds about 1/2 the boost psi as a 2.8. But the Eaton is running more efficiently and you can tune a bit more agressively. I use a 12:1 a/f and about 23 degrees of spark advance

Your trap speed of 116 MPH is pretty weak for a 2.8 upper with a good tune. I used to trap 119-120 in 95* heat with that combo. Gotta have a good setup and drive it hard.
