No, it doesn't. 5th gear with 3.73's tops out at about 155 MPH at 6000 RPM, so you need 6th gear to go above 160 MPH. There were several Shelby's running at 180 MPH+ at the Texas Mile event, so you definitely need more than 5 gears to get there.
Not so on the later cars. I ran 185 and did it in 5th, but I have a different ratio for 5th and 6th. But, I probably couldn't get another 5 mph out of it. The 5th gear ratio is .80:1 in the earlier cars and changed to .74:1 in 2010 or 2011. The STVPP also has a pretty tall rear tire that should get to 181 at 6,250. I'm running a 315/35-20, so at 187, I should be in the same rpm.
Ya not getting into 5th when needed is upsetting. But remember to try and slip it into 5th instead of slam it. It takes more time but is the only way I know right now....

Oh well I didn't know that. I just thought maybe the 11-12s were the same as 13 since with the 13 it goes to 200 in 5th gear. Since usually 6th is the over drive gear for gas milage. I think the camaros reach top speed in 5th as well. I thought only the zr1 and zo6 use 6th gear as a top speed gear.
Thanks for the education session on the differences between the years. I would love a 2013 gear set, it would save me a lot of time and frustration if I had 0.74:1 5th gear.
