I am thinking about building a 03 cobra motor. I have a 5.4 crank left out of my old lightning. Has anyone done this and would I benefit any, what kind of stroker would it be, and what would I have to do?

It would be a 5.4, and your pistons would explode through your cylinder heads. j/k, but seriously. The 5.4 Liter engines have essentially the same hardware as a 4.6L (hints the modular name), but with a larger stroke to obtain an extra 0.8 liters. They consequently need a 1" taller deck height on their block.

Not possible. Not enough deck height to achieve this type of stroke.

Sorry to say.

The only factory gas motor I know of with a longer stroke than a 5.4L/6.8L Modular is a 8100 Vortec. At 4.165" a 5.4 has a huge stroke for such a small motor. It needs some more bore.

We have a 5.4 {destroked} crankshaft machined to fit in a Teksid block right now.

You have to cut down crank throws, and a couple other minor things, but it will fit in a teksid after doing so..

Just having fun with it, and did it years ago on a whim.

You cant go much more than 3.80 tho on the stroke {with the rod u have to run to not come out the top} with out pulling out on the bottom...

We referred to it as the "Porno factor"...

Now, you can get a crank with 3.80 stroke {and I think the same company plan on doing 3.85, not sure}
