Has anyone used or know someone who has used a 5.1L stroker kit or assembled shortblock from Coast High Performance or any other distributor? I am kicking around the idea of getting one for my engine rebuild and was curious.

I think someone just psoted numbers from that. Go back about a week. I think the title is called Big bore. Not sure if this is what you want though.

nah that was a big bore kit. this is a stroker. a stroker will make good low rpm tq but will not rev like a short stroke stock 4.6.

i don't know much about CHP besides they are very into probe.

If you are looking into an assembled shortblock, i suggest you look no further then VT engines. they do big bore, strokers, and std. rebuilds. good guys and good engines.

I will look for that post and see what it has to say. In the mean time.
A stock 4.6L block - 3.552 to 3.582 bore - 3.554 stroke (i believe)
CHP 5.1L block - 3.552 to 3.625 bore - 3.750 stroke

If i did get this block, how much would this change my rev characteristics of the motor? How much can a stock block safely be bored over? The biggest I have seen so far is .020.

.030 is about as far as i would go. the norm for a first rebuild is .020 over.

a 3.75 stroke is kinda long. It should be fine to 7k, but don't expect an 8k screamer.

good for street use though.
