Nothing ground breaking here but I figured I had enough progress to start a build thread not only to keep track of things but for other mustangers to enjoy as well. End goal: 5.0 stroker 2.9 Whipple E85 street monster that will see occasional track time on slicks. I started with a 5.0 aluminum stroker short block from a guy here on the forum, freshly bored 20 over, all forged internals - Kellogg crank, Manley rods, Diamond pistons. The block is an Aluminator or 'Nemak' block with a 2006 date stamp. Here's more info on these blocks: http://www.terminator-cobra.com/castings.htm scroll about 3/4 down (and thanks for the great info as always Joe!) It is built for boost and will be somewhere in the 8.5-9.0 compression range. (EDIT: Final CR calculated at 8.62:1) At first I will be running a ported Eaton setup on E85 for a little while until it's good and broken in, then 2.9 Whipple later on and let it eat! I WILL run a safe 93 octane tune quite often with the Whipple, which is one reason for the low CR. I scored a new set of Roush-Yates DC casting ported heads too Went with a Melling billet geared pump Assembly - ARP head studs and everything else too The Ford Racing timing set is a very nice set and comes with everything needed including all timing cover bolts and gaskets. I went with the MMR tray made to clear all stroker cranks, pick up tube, and pan. And the other goodies going in with the swap I still need some gaskets, fluids, etc before the swap happens later this fall. I'm shooting for early November and it will be done in the garage. This is my first experience building anything and by no means am I doing it all myself, luckily I have some great tech buddies who know worlds more than myself and are helping me learn a ton. More to come Follow me on IG for progress as well: matt_mach1
