4V CAI Pipe Size

I'm in the process of swapping a 4V into my GT and was thinking about the CAI today. I was originally planning to just get a reducer to connect my old GT intake pipe. Would I suffer much from running my old BKK 3" pipe on these engines, or would this be too restrictive and be more advisable to bite the extra $300 on a new CAI?
