Has anyone installed a 4L80E ? I seen Hughes transmission has a new SFI bell housing to install a 4L80E behind 4.6 5.0 and 5.4 Ford. I think this is the way I'll go when its time for an auto trans. Probably go with trans brake and man shift.

Sounds like a tough tranny. Have you considered a 4r100? H&S dodge diesel went 9.2s this past weekend with a BTS tranny. Truck made 1065hp/1650 tq and weighed around 6000 lbs. Just some food for thought:beer:

I bought a 4r100 a few years back from Casey AKA casey02L out of his truck. I believe he went turbo 400. I built it and bought a P.I. converter and all killer shit for the inside. Never installed it in my car, just been sitting in my shop. Biggest reason was no trans brake my car is TT, that and no manual valve body. I love the one in my Lightning though. Its been a killer trans and handled what ever I've thrown at it. But i'm not sure it'll handle 1200 HP that my car should be making when its done. Thats another reason my 4r100 is still in my shop and not in my car. Your car seems to be running killer with one. Congrats on your new PB... I found a 4L80e core and im going to pick it up this weekend, cant wait to get started...

Try a 6R80. Great tranny. Found in the 09+ F150, and the 11+ Mustangs. I don't know if your ECU will work with it or not though and I don't now of anyone who currently makes a stand alone computer for it.

A 4R100 is a heavy transmission.

4l80 is a bad boy. My buddy had one in his 1500hp vette, and raced all season without a problem.
