My 96 Cobra with Hellion turbo @ 10psi is running 11.70's @ 120mph. I still have the 4.10 gears from when it was bolt-ons and nitrous. I keep hearing that a shorter gear like a 3.27, 3.55 or 3.73 would be better. While I don't race all of the time, I want the gear that will give me the best possible 1/4 mile time. And how much can I expect to gain?

Anyone have experience in a turbo, manual car with steep gears that can speak to this?

This what it looks like from in-car at the track.

Clearly shows in the video that you don't stay in the lower gears very long. I run 3.27's. You need to let the turbo work!

I have 3.73's in my car, and 28" tires, and they seem to work pretty well. If you go to a 3.55 or lower with a stick/turbo car, it is not gonna want to come off the line at all.

goat-ee, You're running wotbox right? How much is boost dropping between shifts? I don't have an answer on the gears. I just dropped my car off with Bob Monks for a single 70mm and we decided to drop from 4.30 to 3.55.
