325/40/18 on 9.5"

Nice look just a bit taller tire than I'd like to run. A 305/40 would be good but will bulge a bit on a 9.5.

I found a thread here where someone with a 08 gt500 did it with a stock 9.5 and at stock height. 305/40 555R.

Good luck OP. Post pics if you ever decide on it.
This thread killed my hopes of trying to fit a DR on my brembo wheels but good thing I stumbled upon it and learned. Could've killed myself.

You can clearly see the bulge... If you have stock power they will work. If you actually want to hook up you need to get your rims widened to 10.5".
The 555r's aren't that great of a tire for traction to begin with, but you never stated your power level.

These tire wheel threads crack me up. OP do whatever makes you happy. I would like everyone who says tire bulge is dangerous to provide pictures of the damage. I've never seen a tire that rolled off a bead if inflated properly and taller sidewalls or a bulge will act similar as far as swaying in a corner. When trying to hook a high power car more sidewall is needed to help absorb the shock at launch, this is why drag race cars have tall bulging sidewalls!!!

Would YOU run a 325 on a 9.5" wide rim?

No one in this thread said tire bulge is dangerous! Not sure where you got that from... It just looks like shit & takes away the tire contact to the pavement...

A wide tire on a skinny rim does nothing...

Side wall helps, but the proper size rim to tire width is more important. I pull the left front with a 40 series tire.

If I would of asked the same type of questions as the OP did when I first got my car, it would have saved me some money.

Ran a 305/45/18 on a 8" wheel and got the same response from almost everyone on here. It's to wide, you can't do it, looks like shit, won't fit. I cut 1:50 60' times that way (tire on the ground) now that tire is on a 10" wheel and the car hooks the same.

I will say that in a corner with the 8" wheel you could feel it roll over and stand up on the side wall but never lost traction.

The M&H have a reputation for running narrow and judging by how stretched the 275/45/18 is on my 9.5" rim I have reason to believe that they STILL DO. Hence my question about running the 325 on a 9.5" rim. I know M&H says it's a no-no.

I like a smaller wheel more sidewall look but the 305/45 is overkill in my situation. Not a fan of the huge wagon wheels with stretched rubber that are trendy right now.

Judging by the photos I found the 305/40/R18 bulges a bit but it's nothing ridiculous and IMO looks good. Especially on stock height cars that can use a little extra tire in the wheel wells for aesthetic reasons. I wish Nitto made a NT05R in that size and maybe they will eventually. Whether the 555R will hold power or not is debatable as I have read differing accounts on the web. I suspect it should be fine with 400-425whp even on the street.

My set up in the rear is 295/45/18 Nitto NT555's on 18x10 wheels lowered on Eibach pro kit.

OP... Post up some pics of your 275/45/18's on 9.5's please... I'd like to see how that tire looks. How did they hook for you?

I've gone low 11's & 1.6 60's on 555r's on a soft tune. I was going to go back & try for 10's, but someone offered to buy them before I got the chance.

...so there may be some hope after all. I guess I'm just gonna give it a try after my contis wear out. Hopefully Discount Tire will be willing to install NT05r 305s on my brembo wheels

Here is the 295 45 18 NT05's (non R) on a 9.5" wheel. I'll see if I can find pics of the 305 mickeys on this wheel but they are 29" tall.

I've had no problems with them. They stick perfectly at the track and at the street. Keep in mind this is a bolt on stock converter automatic at high (4200+ feet) altitude. So it probably only makes about 340-350whp and leaves soft. Car has gone a best of 12.7@110.

My only complaint is that they run a little more narrow than I'd like. The rim isn't very well protected against rash. I have a fresh set ready to go on when these wear out and I may try another tire like the Nitto 305/40 next. Incidentally I doubt the 555R would stick better than this tire even with the extra width. M&H makes a very good product and they have great service.
