Is the 555 wider than the 555R in a 315/35/17? I am needing new tires and cant get over how narrow the 555R's are. Do the 555 street tire hook very well? Thanks in advance.

well the nittos in general run narrow compared to other tire company's.... but i wouldn't think that a different tire model would be a diffrenet size if they are rated at the same size from the company that made them.....

I think my 275 555's are not much narrower than my 315 555R's were. I'm curious as to this answer as well because I am thinking of going this route later this year.

I know my 275 555's are true 275's and match up with other brand 275s...so I'm curious is the 315s will also hold true. If they were as wide as my Sumicrapmo 315's...that would be great.

The 315 non drag Nitto's are what I run on the back and they are def. wider than the drag radials.

The 315 Rs are just fine for a upper only car on the street. The cool thing about them is that they fit on the stock wheel with no issue. Ive had a few different sets, and they seem to last longer than other brands, and are semi-safe to run in the rain.

the 555 extreme is 12.56" wide.
the 555R is 12.13" wide.

NT-05 is 12.40" wide.

all sizes are 315/35R17s

i would wait for the new NT-05 tires coming out in February.

The NT-05's look good. They have a treadwear rating of 200 vs. the 555R 100 and the plain 555's 300 .. Hmmm, may be a good compromise. I wonder if they will hook? The only problem I see is limited sizes in 18" .. only up to 295/35/18. I was hoping to get some 305's under this bad boy. :-D
