im thinkin about goin to gears as my next mod...my car is a 03 gt m5 and was just wondering what others opinions on the two gears are...i dont do alot of hwy driving its mainly all city if that matters....but which would my best bet be??

4.10's or even 4.30's since you said you don't do much highway driving. I have 3.73's in mine and was not happy the first time I put my foot in th throttle after having them installed.

Maybe I was just expecting it to be a night/day difference. Don't get me wrong, you do accelerate quicker, and the pull is harder. I guess I just had my hopes set too high. Also, I never knew what gear was in it from the onset. The guy that put them in guessed 3.27's just from driving it from the parking lot to the garage, but I never thought to ask him when I picked it up. As far as the RPM range I think there's only 300 or RPM difference in the 3.73's & 4.10's, so gas mileage shouldn't matter. I got around 27mpg on the drive to FL a few yrs ago.
this is my grab on those 2 choices:
3.73= good for if your going boosted later down the road
4.10= good for N/A cars.

hmmm thanks for the info.......now i gotta decide if i want an N/A car or boost it somehow.......what do u guys think about modifying a semi collectible car?

I vote 4.10's no matter what. Best mod ever for a 5speed Mustang.
everyone is afraid of 4.10's. at 80mph im taching 3grand. i can go 230miles per tank and it runs like a champ. i drive on the highway all the time, dont be scared. 4.10 ftw

4.10s, even if u want a centri down the road they are still perfect.
I had 3.73's and a 100 shot on my 04' GT before I sold it. Ran great but if I had to do over I'd go 4.10. Even with the spray I would not bang out 4th in a 1/4 mile.
That's personal preference though. Some peeople are ok and some aren't. I konw someone with a stalled auto mach with 4.10s and a D1SC.....he likes it. I know a few that have gotten rid of their 4.10s and went to 3.73s and were much happier.
Alot's going to depend on how much driving he does.
I have 3.73's and I like them alot. The first time I downshifted to 2nd going like 40mph I was like WTF!! Now Im used to them so my car feels slow again. lol. Im going to be supercharged sometime in the future so thats why I went with them.
ya i got 3.70's right now but ive done gotten used to them also and prolly wouldnt mind upgradin to some 4.11's. also if you have 4.10's or 4.11's in my case if you want to go boosted later on you can do a centri and a t-56. should have good gear spacing then. cause 1st in the t-56 is taller than the t-45 or 3650 which is somewhere around 3.37 or 3.31. the t-56 1st is 2.97 so it would work well IMO.
just got my 4.10s installed and got the car back today, its an auto, and im loving the gears from what i've drove so far. ran a gtech before and after, ran a 15.6 with stock 2.73 gears, and a 14.9 with the 4.10s, the 14.9 was also in 17 degree weather so the traction wasn't all there. absolutely love my decision.
+1 to hoss...but i tihnk my 4.10's are perfect for me. since i get on the highway maybe 3-4 times a month to go to the mall. i average about 20 mpg in town and thats getting on it about once every 2 days
