3.15s is STOCK..holy weak sauce! Autos need more gear than manuals, make it worth it or dont do it. -Shane
The gearing is different in the auto than the manual. An auto with 3.73's is more gear than a manual with 3.73's for ex. from what I understand.
Comparing my 3.15 auto to my manual 3.31 in daily driving the 3.15's feel stronger and 6th gear is useable. 3.15's are great on the highway and not bad down low. The 3.31 manual felt sluggish to me and 6th is a joke.
You're comparing totally different trannies...the old 4R70W had a 2.84 1st gear and the new ones are 4.17. Sure, the 5.0 revs way higher stock...but it's not the same.
Even comparing A6 and M6 2011s, 1st in the manual is 3.66 vs the auto 4.17... Ford absolutely did a great job gearing the new cars, and essentially added a 'launch gear' for the autos.
The new auto 2nd gear at 2.34 is almost as low as the 4R70W 1st...
Great pictureI still say 4.30
Great picture and your 5.0 must 60 foot very well! Thanks, it gets a little more air than that, just don't have a still picture that captures it at its highest point. Auto, it crosses in 4th at 120 with a little room to spare. Also finishes the Texas mile in 5th with pretty much no room to spare, around 7400 in 5th to run 160 MPH LOL.
