Hey fellas,
My car is making between 680 and 700 rwhp on my 2.2 on 21 lbs and e85. The car has a 3.27 gear in it which is nice. At first I was skeptical but after reading a lot of threads here with other guys in the same power range making the same move, it seems like that was a positive move to make.

Now... I'm considering a bogart drag pack with 325/50/15 MT ET Street on the rear. Those measure out to about 28".

Will the combination of the 3.27 and a 28" tall tire kill the low end too much? Anyone running that setup at around the same power I have?

Lmk your thoughts on it fellas. Current tire is a 295/35/18 BFG KDWII and no they don't hook. Lol I really want the drag pack setup so I can take this thing to the track for some fun but I'm hoping I won't have to change my gear again for the 28" tall tire.

Anyone? I know we have a lot of guys on drag packs around here. Surely someone's tried the 3.27/28" tall tire combo...

I am going to 3.27s soon too and I was wondering the same thing. I have the gears already. Just need to get them installed.

When you look at the rear gear calculators you will see that at 6500 rpm you are at 127mph and at 7000rpm you are at 137 in 3rd gear.

In 4th gear 5100 rpm puts you at ~130mph, 5300 mph puts you at 135mph and 5500 puts you at 140mph.

Just looking at the numbers it looks like the 3.27 gears and 28" slicks would be too much.

I'd think ud b fine . I ran 28" et drag with stock 3.55 but at 500hp . My mph was bout 3 mph lower but ran 10.96 with ported eaton setup . I'm at 69x now and will b running same 28 and 3.55 but I'd try it out if I were u before changing .

Now that's what I wanted to hear! Supposed to trade my 18" chrome AFS reps and KDWII's for a clean Bogart D10 15/15 setup tomorrow with 325/50/15 mickeys on he back.

So I'm on the fence due to tire size and my gearing.

I was at 700rwhp with 3:55 gears and 28 inch tall slicks and it was perfect for my car/setup. I would think 3:27 gears would be a little to much but I have no first hand experience.

I think im gonna go back to the 3.55. Almost tempted to go 3.73 but I think I might be going too far in he other direction with anything more than the 3.55.

I think that you will be better off with the 3.55. If you want a 3.73ish gear, then just go to a 27" tire.

Well I was planning on trading my AFS reps for a bogart drag pack and those had 28" tires on them. My current street setup is 26" or so. I do plan to get a drag pack though and would like to run a 15x10 with a 325/50/15 drag radial which is about 28" but my street setup will be either a 305/35/18 or 315/30/18 when these 295/35/18's wear out hat came on my wheels.

How can I figure that out? Run it with the current gear and see what it traps and calculate off that to decide on the gear change?

I make well over 700 hp.
On the street I run 26" DRs. On the track I run 28" drag slicks.
I went from 3.55s to 3.73s and it has worked out well for me.
At 80mph on the street I cruise at about 2500 rpm.
The 28s and 3.73 are an ideal combo at the track.
I hope this helps.

I've actually decided since making this thread that I'm going to ditch the 3.27's. I'm really on the fence between the 3.55's and 3.73's. Car is primarily street but will see the track from time to time. Only problem is that I'll be running 26" tall tires on 18's for street use. Then 28" tires at the track when I go. So I'm stuck dead between the 3.55 and 3.73.
