Hi Guys ,

I popped my 2V Stock Bullitt Motor ( like a boss ). I have located a few 4V motors forged and was wondering if I can get away with some harness mods but Keep the Same original ECU from my bullitt. Obviously I do plan on a retune.

Let me know !

Thanks

Works just fine. Use the stock GT injectors and maf until you get it tuned. I started my DOHC swap on the old maf/injectors then swapped to 39# inj and 90mm MAF on the dyno.

+.020" over 4.6l DOHC numbers are posted below.

Well I already have a full tune on my current ecu for My TT 2V stock motor. It threw a rod and I was thinking to swap the whole longblock for a Cobra... Is there much to mod harness wise ?

Getting ready to do a 4v swap into my saleen and from everything i have read and from the guy doing the swap it's a lot easier to use the stock ecu than swap it for the 4v ecu. He has done about half a dozen swaps in the past so i'd say he knows what he's talking about. Like said above it should run on the stock ecu in order to get you to a dyno for a new tune.

So I am pulling the trigger on the 2001 Cobra Motor ! I am going to dump it in the bullitt. The motor comes has a "long long block" Intake timing cover and valve covers...

I know that my Headers wont match , anything you else you guys can think of ? Motor mounts ? Power steering pump ?

Being that these are modular motors, most everything will swap straight across. Youre correct about needing new headers, the sohc motor mounts and power steering pump will bolt right up. 8 bolt flywheel will be needed.

Whos doing the COP re-wiring?

Ok , so I will need a flywheel then !

COP re-wiring ? Coil on plug ? What needs to be re-wired ? does any of you have the pinout ? I am more than comfortable with doing the job myself... Been soldering at work for the past 10 years :p

Do you know if anything else needs to be re-wired ?

Depends on what SOHC block you have, some had the 8 bolt crank some had a 6 bolt crank. Great time to upgrade to an aluminum flywheel.

Correct. Coil on plug wiring needs to be extended so the coil wires will have enough length to route underneath the DOHC coil covers.

One wire at a time, its a tedious but simple task to handle.

I de-pinned the connectors that attach to the coil packs and reversed the pins*. Then all I had to do was add the correct length of wire to each plug.

*Pre 03 GTs with the white coil wire and multi colored coil wires need to have the polarity swapped for the coil packs, thats why I depinned the plugs, swapped the pins in the connector and then soldered the longer wires in.

I was also told the alternator polarity had to be reversed but that was incorrect, doing this damn near cost me loading up my race car and going home empty handed from a $400 SCCA driver school. Luckily, my crew chief found the problem and got me back out on track.

I Already had a nice Fidanza Aluminum flywheel , should sale easy. I also have a Centerforce DFX on there that I dont really like so will probably sell that too ! UPGRADE :p

For the coil wiring , I guess de SOHC coil packs wont fit .. Luckily I bet GT500 ones will and my friend has a 100 of those :p I also will need to reverse the pin's ( easy ) and lenghten the cables ( easy ).

Anything else you can think of ?

My car is Twin turbo and its tuned with 60# injectors and a C&L 80mm Blow thru maf. I do have a WB and a fully open tune that I can tweek with my hand held SCT X2 , do you think its going to start and be driveable on that tune I already have ? just to take it to the dyno ?

Thanks

I think the bullit had the 8 bolt so you can keep your flywheel etc, the car should start and as long as you creep into it you should be fine driving to the dyno. I drove on my old tune for a week or two after I did the stroker

I was thinking about other odds and ends that I had to buy and a few more things came to mind.

Throttle cable is different but I almost think with your car being a BULLITT that it will work or be damn close.

Cruise control cable may be different also but my race car doesn't have cruise control.

Depending on what injectors your car has you might need some injector adapters.

Steve @ Tousley Ford supplied me with most everything that I needed for the swap.

I'll post up more as I think of it.

*Edited to include link to my DOHC build/swap*
