285/40 17 with Spacers

Anyone here running either the Goodyear GS-D3's or BFG KDW's (285/40 17) with spacers(1/4" or 3/8") to bring the tires flush with the fender on a 10.5 wheel?? If so, how does it look from the back??
I'm trying to decide that route or just go with the 315/35's

Couple of comments...

In my opinion...285s are barely wide enough for a 10.5" wheel. You will have NO curb protection. If you look at the diagram below, you can see what I mean. The edge of the wheel sticks out further than the sidewall.

If you are looking for that "wide" look out back (like I was), you will be happier with 315s. I had 285s for a short time...but switched over to 315s which looked much better. Here's a shot of a car with 315 Goodyears and (I think) 3/8" wheel spacers...
