So, I currently have 17x9" with 275/40/17 at the front and 17x10.5" with 315/35/17 at the rear.
When I changed my front tires from Hankook ventus II to BF Goodrich g-sport comp 2 it started to rub while doing a full lock turn.
My rear tires need to be replaced soon, so I was thinking of moving my BF Goodrich 275/40/17 at the rear, and getting some slightly smaller tires for the front (255/45R17 or 245/45R17)
Does that sounds like a good idea, or...not?

Anyone running 275/40/17 on a 10.5" rim (looks like BF Goodrich tires are wider than some other brands)?

My friend just bought a 95 Gt with 275/40-17 Falkens on 10.5 FR500s in the rear and it drives fine. Though they are stretched a little

On a past car I had 285 35or40 17 tires on 17x10.5 rear wheels. Came with goodyear tires and looked a bit stretched, switched to a different brand in 285 and they really did look stretched - not a good look IMO. A 295 - 315 tire would be good.

Also, 255 up front should be perfect.

Rim range on a (wider than most) BFG KDW2 275/40/17 is 9-11". You're well within spec. I think most racers will tell you its better to have a narrower tire on a wider rim than the other way around. Providing its within spec, i kinda like the look ov it IF the offset is just right, though personally i think you'd be crazy to ditch the 315's. I'm trying to find a way to put 315's or wider on my 96 right now...

I had 245s in the front with a 9" rim and 275 in the rear with 10.5" rim....it'll work just fine...probably wont look the best tho.

Being a couple years old, the OP may not be looking for an answer anymore, but I still felt the need to say this - though many tire sizes 'work' on a few different wheel sizes, check the tire manufacturer recommendations for wheel width for a given tire size. Just because it works does not mean it is optimal, or safe.
