I apologize...I posted this question in another thread and tried to delete it, but I'm unable to. But wanted some quick feedback before I call this tuner...

So, here is my stupid question....
I've got a 2018 intake that I was going to install on my 2011 (IMRCs locked out) and sent the revision request over.

I received the following e-mail from them....

Jun 15, 11:21 AM EDT

Hello, (Tuner and Tuning company name) here, before we can finish writing tunes for your vehicle we need to inform you that we do not support the 18 manifold on anything but the 18 at this point in time, We have not conducted proper R&D testing of this manifold to fit on anything other than the 18. If you can return to the stock manifold we can get tunes out for you I look forward to tuning your vehicle.

Am I missing something? Is the 2018 intake unable to be tuned via data logging and working with the customer? I don't think I'm being unreasonable to think that this can be tuned....please let me know if I am. Not trying to burn anyone here...just trying to get a revision for an intake manifold?

It appears the tuning company does not have the correct experience with retrofitted 18 intake manifold swaps to feel confident on tuning the car (and not having driveability issues)

Nothing wrong with saying you simply cannot do something, imo. Better to be up front about it rather than hack tune it, and then you’re even MORE upset because your car runs like shit.

And I totally get that to an extent....that being said, I purchased "Tunes for life" from this company and I don't mind data logging with them to get things right. I'm trying not to bash the company but I'm sure by that last line you know who I'm talking about.
I asked them if they knew when they would have the ability to tune and they said "no ETA". If this was some odd ball manifold I'd totally understand...buuuuuut?

Frustrating.

Sounds like something Bama would do LMAO, probably should just go with a better tuner, or while your at it, a better intake manifold. Crazy thing is there are even a few threads on here from professionals that have basically said the 18 swaps need little if any tuning at all.

Already have the intake and got it for cost...numbers I've seen (yes, read) don't shot it being a bad option for the money. So, it's staying. Not looking to debate the intake I chose at this point ;)
The different tuner is probably what I'll go with at a later date if the current tuner doesn't get their crap together.

Leave said tuning company alone and go with somebody who tunes these on a regular.

Unfortunately not an option right now.
I'm going to call them today and talk to them about some type of refund since they aren't able to deliver on what they've advertised and from what I've read, I don't have anything done to my car that falls outside of what they claim they can tune. It seems like they don't really have anyone there who can actually write tunes any more or is willing to take the time to work with customers.

Assuming you bought the tuner itself new from Bama I would be shocked if you get any type of refund since after all the "custom bama tuning" is literally free

Whats funny is they could just send you the same tune in your car and just rename it and you wouldn't be the wiser. The 2018 intake really doesn't need a tune IMO to run perfectly well. Good luck getting a refund but you might just be better off moving on.

I don't disagree with what you're saying regarding the potential to have them send me the same tune only renamed. Honestly, I wouldn't have thought anything about comparing the two until you said that. I'm doubtful that I'll get any money back and at this point, I'm not sure I want them doing anything else to my car. I'll probably call just to see if there is any option, but will ultimately end up moving on to someone else...They were a matter of convenience at the time.
I appreciate the feedback.

Yep...I know. I don't question that there are solid reputable tuners out there....but his video does make it sound like you can't trust anyone unless you make yourself knowledgeable about tuning as well.

Its the reason I bought hptuners some 14 years ago, before I worked at hptuners I bought and used their product tuning my own car after being dissatisfied with my experience with a dyno shop. Its not for everyone but I've always like working on my own cars so for me it made sense rather than paying someone else hundreds of dollars for tuning time after time.
