After running [email protected] two weeks ago, and seeing others having problems hitting low 12's, I set out to solve the mystery of the 2013 GT500 mythical 11 second 1/4 time. With good results.

60'-------2.053
330------5.206
1/8------7.727 @ 97.94
1000----9.882
1/4------11.681 @ 125.50

That's right, the mythical Motor Trend time: 11.6@125. Roughly 85 degrees, low humidity.

Here's everything I did for those who are having trouble:

Little more than half a tank of gas
Rear stock tires: 14psi
Big old bag of ice on blower between runs
Taped off foglights (More superstitious aerodynamics than anything)
Traction and launch control OFF.
2-3 second burnout, enough to roll some smoke.
Rev to about 3200-3500 RPMs, keeping clutch right at disengagement point.
At green light- release clutch hard and roll onto throttle. You should be at WOT at around 20-25mph. Keep in it to 6800, shift hard to second and let it redline third.

It shouldn't so much as chirp and you will scream your way to an unnervingly fast 11.6. I outran an 03 Cobra Kenne Bell 2.2 on Mickey Thompsons who ran 11.8 @ 119.

I saw one last night run a 13.1 @ 113MPH. He had LC @ 3000 RPM and TC on said he was still learning to drive the car. It seemed like it would bog at the line. He only had 500 miles on the car. I know it has a lot more in it, he just needs some seat time

My experience exactly. Tell him to at least try Advancetrac sport mode. (Double tap traction control with foot on brake)

That's excellent, especially on stock tires with a 2.0+ sixty foot. Loving the MPH. They are indeed producing some nice power from the factory.

Good information bro!!! My findings are also that with all nannies on, the car falls on its face and bogs! sport mode might work better and def. lowering the rear tire pressure helped...thats a great job on stock rubber man!

Awesome run!

Btw anyone with a KB Cobra on DRs running 11.8 @ 119 realllly needs to learn how to drive, that's terrible.

More than likely heat soaked and if no cooling mods could be making mid to lower 500's. MPH is low but i've seen worse in the summer.

nice guy no drag racing experience what so ever.... harldy a time worth mentioning..... I told him turn everything off and drive the car but he was to scared to do that. nice car though... 113mph driven poorly at our altitude shows great promise especially a vert.

Is this you vs said Cobra?

2013 GT500 vs 2003 SVT Cobra - YouTube

I recommend some 3.73's, and some sticky tires. Even at 80 MPH a new GT500 will only be turning 1,800 RPM's in 6th with stock tire diameters, and 3.73's. My L is turning almost 2,500 RPM's at that speed, and a Terminator turns past 2,300 RPM's in 6th at 80 MPH, so your engine speed will still be very low at high speeds even with some 3.73's.

I would assume pulley/x-pipe/tune + slicks. The slicks might let you run low 11's and a chance high 10 but to be able to consistently run 10's I'd assume at least another 100hp to help in the back stretch.

In the right conditions with a driver mod I see these breaking 10's stock with a drag radial. The power is there and cars have been faster with less power and the same weight.
