I can get some from Hawk but they don't cover the rotor 100% They don't touch .25" on the inside of the rotor right before the bend for the hat.
Van, I talked to Hawk today and they have a part number in their system for the front ceramic brake pads, but nothing for the 2010-13 rear pads. The fronts are not available at this time, but I was told to call back later in the week. The good news is that at least the fronts are going to be built.
The rears are the same as 2007-2012 GT500 and all Mustangs. Good to hear they are getting the pads cut........... I can't imagine who could have possibly supplied Hawk with a set of pads to use a template for the new 6 Piston GT500 Brembo Hawk Brake Pad offerings. :uh oh:
Van, Have you heard anything new on the availablity of the Hawk Ceramic pads for the front of the 2013-14 GT500's? The part number I was given by Hawk is for a Lexus.
What part number were you given? Many times Hawk will discover that they cut a pad and then it works on multiple cars. For example the front brake pad on the 2007-2012 4 Piston Brembo is shared with a Subaru EVO
HB616Z-607 Front ceramic. The catalog lists it is for Lexus and Mercedes. Lexus IS-F 2008-2011 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK55 AMG 2005-2006 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK63 AMG 2007-2008 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG 2005-2006 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG 2007-2010
I was using these pads last year. They do not completely cover the rotor. They will miss about 1/4" of the rotor at the bottom where the rotors transition to the hat. Most of my customers want a pad that makes full contact with the rotor. These almost fit the bill.
That's what I was thinking when I looked up the number. Unfortunately, It looks like that is the one they are going to offer for our cars. If you hear otherwise, please post.
Carbotech has front pads for our cars (the proper ones). I sent them my pad as a template and they gave me a set of track pads for my car they are exactly the same shape as the factory pad. Give them a call they can get you street pads in the proper pad shape.
Carbotech carries full compliment of GT500 pad shape in their line. I road race using the 6 pots and Van's stainless lines with the XP-24 compound and am very happy with the braking performance. Steve
hate to bump an old thread but has there been any update on the hawk pads getting the right size pad? or any other pad outside of the carbotech ones? mostly a street pad at least.
I've actually been working with someone on a set of pads that is a perfect fit front and rear with lower dust ratio than even the Hawk Ceramic Pads. Give me a call on Monday. 561-445-7702 Very close to release.
Sorry to bump and oldish thread but where are we on this? i installed some 6 pistons on my GT with with stoptechs and I'm not overly impressed. i feel like my old 4 pistons had a bit better initial bite. Also, are there any SS lines out there for these? Totally didn't read, ill give you a buzz Monday Van.
