Well done article. Fair balance of the usual ex-U.S. disgust of "American Muscle" and the admission that... you can't live without it. "antediluvian solid rear axle"...I like that one. Had to look that one up...lol.
That price is within the MSRP listed for my '09 so the numbers look correct on that scale.
Something I noticed on my '09 is the amount of features that are optional for US cars and come as cost included standard for Canadian units like mine.
Example from my window sticker:
Ambient lighting N/C
Premier trim package N/C
HID's were an extra $600
When you work the math from US to Cdn, accounting for the dollar differences, the Cdn cars are always more expensive. I figure the "cost included (mandatory) options" are part of the price hike. I wonder if that may be the trend with the new car as well.
The US dollar is stronger by about 15-20 cents right now, the days of cheap performance parts have been waylaid since the economic sillyness. Since '06-07 timeframe for example, the dollar change has resulted in US parts costing around 30% more, never fun that.
so, 'canadian driver' is basically 'consumer reports', but written in canadian
i will say, although the majority may be boring, there are some damn fine females to come out of canada! while america is probably about 40 to 60, babes to fat and uglies, canada seems more like 70 to 30(the famous canadians atleast).
i didn't think the article was to bad, though, as usual, the solid axle comments are getting pretty damn old. reality check - you bitched about it in the 90's and when ford redesigned the mustang for the new century they still went with a solid axle. you know, obviously the bitching isn't having much of an effect, especially on sales.
Be nice guys :nono: Canadians are very polite people who don't swarm across our boarder by the millions. Then again the way things are going in this country I may become a wetback. Less socialism there.
