2009 vs 2010 wheel arches?

Are wheel arches a larger diameter on later s197 or is it my imagination. Ford used 17 and 18s and they did the job, but 18s on the later cars dont look good. I feel it has to do with the arch size between the cars.

I have always wondered the same thing.
