2006 F150 4X4 gear size

need to know the ring and pinion size for a 2006 ford f150 4x4 with an automatic..now it has 3.73 and the guy wants to go 4.56's front and back, just need to know the size..

if its 4wd, it does not matter. The V6 has no 4wd option and all 4wd's have the same axles. Payload packages and whatnot only modify the suspension or change which engine you have. Ex.- if you select payload package 1A and you picked out a V6 truck you automaticly get the 4.6 engine. If you pick payload option 1B then you get the 5.4 and the FFV 5.4 is optional. Also, if you spec a V6 but decide you want 4wd you will end up with a 4.6 engine w/ the 5.4 being optional.

4.2L have 8.8" rears
4.6L have 8.8" rears and 8.8" reverse cut in the front
5.4L have 9.75" rears and 8.8" reverse cut in the front

The 5.4L is the ONLY one to have a 9.75" 4x4 or not!

That is correct. I might add that a tranny cooler is a must with larger gears and or tires or he will toast that tranny in no time.

Im running 38's with 4.56 gears and my tranny runs at about 145-170 depending on how im driving and the outside temp.
